Here's a very cool looking project that unfortunately
didn't move beyond the blue sky concept phase. After the huge success of
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, the Imagineers looked
into ways of capitalising on the franchise and came up with the idea of a
waterpark. Weaving together the imagery from the film and the ride, the
waterpark would have built on the storytelling precedent set by Typhoon
Lagoon and Blizzard Beach and take it up a whole other level.
This artwork, by designed Scott Sherman, was
presented as a proof of concept. Whilst not developed for any specific
location, rumours suggested it would have been Anaheim's third gate, to be
built on the Strawberry Fields.
