Description

Here's a very cool looking project that unfortunately didn't move beyond the blue sky concept phase. After the huge success of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, the Imagineers looked into ways of capitalising on the franchise and came up with the idea of a waterpark. Weaving together the imagery from the film and the ride, the waterpark would have built on the storytelling precedent set by Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach and take it up a whole other level.

This artwork, by designed Scott Sherman, was presented as a proof of concept. Whilst not developed for any specific location, rumours suggested it would have been Anaheim's third gate, to be built on the Strawberry Fields.

Why Wasn't It Built?

As a proof of concept, this idea was more to suggest new projects for management rather than to efficiently design a working park.

Legacy

The melding of the ride and movies would later happen with the addition of Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and Davy Jones to the original ride in California.
